Welcome to blog Langley. Being an ex-Langley girl, I began my journey into sixth form as an external student, knowing little about the inner workings of the school as deeply as I did previously next door. Despite this I felt fully confident in knowing that I was entering a joyful and supportive environment, one which I know I will greatly succeed in at the end of Year 13 and throughout my time here.
"From sixth form open day, I fell in love with the sixth form working environment, as it correlates well with university study areas which I believe will help me to mature not only educationally but as a person as well."
This is due to the fact that I will be encouraged to gain my own independence and will have to take responsibility for my work ethic.
I was still unsure, however, if I was prepared to leave the comfort of the girls’ school which I had become fully accustomed to throughout my 5 year experience. Despite this, I knew that I had made the right decision to become a part of the school since the first day when all students, internal or external, were greeted with open arms to fully integrate into the sixth form community. I was slightly anxious about knowing how I would find my way around the building but having the support of friendly teachers and students put my mind at full ease, allowing me to arrive to my lessons with confidence. From the first lesson, I was fully enthralled in the topics and felt a surge of excitement as I knew that I would be learning about and discussing topical issues which interest me. This made me forget the laziness of summer, and encouraged me to throw myself into whatever hardships sixth form has to throw at me.
So far I have been able to meet intelligent students and converse with knowledgeable teachers about subjects that I am so incredibly passionate about. This, in itself, is encouragement enough from the school to give me an urge to learn new and exciting skills that I will be able to take into later life and inevitably use. I have also had the chance to partake in classroom debates and enrichment activities which will broaden my horizons on issues about the world in which we live, and the impacts that these issues have on different groups of people. The organised workings of the school have enabled me to settle in much quicker than I originally anticipated which has really helped me to focus on my learning. Inevitably, the focal point of school life is learning, which is highly emphasised by peers and is supplied by the ILA’S to give us a calm and fully equipped learning environment.
Starting my third week here I have fully settled in.
